HI, I'M SHAW
I ’m a Designer and User Experience professional with experience on hundreds of projects helping companies improve analog and digital User Experiences for their clients and customers through research, design, and the application of the knowledge that I’ve gained over 6 years in the product design industry and 7 years in the UX industry. I have direct experience talking with and observing thousands of Users, from inventors and start-ups to some of the largest and most powerful corporations in the world.
ABOUT ME
MY EDUCATION
I have an interdisciplinary background including coursework in Computer Science and degrees and certificates from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) College of Design, College of Management, and School of Psychology, including a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Design (graduated with honor) and certificates in Marketing and Cognitive Psychology. I’m credited on several patents, and have been instrumental on teams creating award winning products.
What sets me apart and makes me a valuable member of any company or organization is my ability to solve problems by applying my experience and knowledge to balance user needs and business requirements in real world situations.
MY CAREER
Since October of 2018 I have served as UX Manager for Dexcom in San Diego, California. Prior to joining Dexcom I worked for 6 years at User Insight, a UX Research, Design & Strategy consultancy in Atlanta, Georgia where I was a UX Lead at the company, leading long-term engagements with some of the largest national and international companies in the world. Prior to that, I spent nearly 7 years designing consumer, commercial, and medical products for Slingshot Product Development Group. My experience in designing both physical products and digital products gives me a unique perspective and insight on the holistic design and development process that few can match.
OTHER INTERESTS
Outside of UX, I enjoy creation of all types: photography, painting, freelance web and graphic design, and model making (gunpla). When possible, I like playing golf, road cycling, and working out.

Creativity is a habit for me, and I'm always looking for new ways to develop my skills. These are a few of the projects that I've undertaken to that end.
